A letter from our founder

Why am I so invested in Montessori? After a career in education, first as a high school teacher and then as founder of a tutoring company for over a decade, I've become all too familiar with the shortcomings of traditional education. But if I had to highlight the most concerning, it would be: that traditional schools can extinguish the natural joy all children have for learning.

I am amazed and inspired by the spark of curiosity that I’ve observed in my own children since their earliest days. I want to protect and nurture that spark, that fascination with the world around them and the love of learning that they have. As they grow older, I want them to be challenged academically, and to have a comprehensive, wide-ranging education. The only method designed both to nurture children’s natural curiosity as well as to challenge them academically is Montessori.

I'm excited to be offering a Montessori education for children from infancy through elementary in San Francisco for my own children and hopefully for some of yours.”

Our daughter attended a traditional public school for kindergarten after having been in Montessori preschool. Her light and love of learning were dimmed greatly that year in public school. Mission Montessori has brought back the pep in her step and her deep love of creating and learning. We are so grateful to be a part of this community.
